PhD project

"The politics of financial literacy education"

The dissertation project addresses the question how financial literacy education emerged as a policy project and which support coalitions it built on both in the USA and the EU. A central focus lies on how different actor groups (consumer organizations, banking and insurance associations, regulators) brought forward different agendas in regard to financial literacy edcuation and to which extent an debtor-oriented view has gained ground after the crisis of 2007/08. The research builds on methods from process analysis and social network analysis.
